BUILT ON STRENGTHS
HOW A PEOPLE-FIRST APPROACH TRANSFORMED TRANSCONA ROOFING FROM THE INSIDE OUT
THE SUMMARY
—
When Transcona Roofing looked ahead after the pandemic, owner Rich Marchetti wasn’t content with maintaining the status quo, he had a bold vision for the future. A natural futurist, Marchetti wanted to see big changes that would position his company as the roofer of choice in the Manitoba construction industry.
To make that vision a reality, he partnered with Wendy Hofford, founder of WH Strategic Drive Inc. and a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, who suggested he invest in his people first. Through CliftonStrengths coaching, leadership development and realignment of roles, Transcona Roofing has seen remarkable results: engagement climbed from 80% to 97%, profitability is steady for the first time since Marchetti has been at the helm, and industry recognition now places them among Canada’s top employers.

The Transformation
Transcona Roofing’s story proves that when a company commits to understanding its people and leveraging their strengths, the results are transformative: happier employees, stronger leaders and a healthier bottom line.
“Investing in people through strengths changes everything,” Hofford says. “When people are in the right seats, they shine – and that’s when organizations truly take off. It’s a game changer.”
For Marchetti, the transformation reaffirms his original vision. “We set out to build a solid foundation, and that foundation begins with our people,” he says. “Our team is our greatest asset, and success depends on placing the right people in the right seats. With that foundation in place, we’ve been able to develop leaders – empowering our people to take ownership, drive progress and help shape the long-term success of the organization.”
Together, Wendy Hofford and the Transcona Roofing team didn’t just create a strategy – they sparked a movement. Through trust, coaching and a strengths-based approach, they turned vision into action and transformed the company – from the rooftop to the boardroom.
